I have a slight problem. I love reading challenges and readathons that have goals. I feel like they open more opportunities for new books that you wouldn’t have thought about reading otherwise. Next year, I want to participate in a new challenge, the debut author challenge.
Reflecting on this past year, I realized that I didn’t read many books that actually came out this year. Maybe it’s because I didn’t want to wait in the library queue for my turn or that I feel like the older books need catching up on. Next year I want to fix that by reading more debut authors.
The challenge wants the reader to read more: middle grade, new adult and young adult debut authors. Lucky for me, I read mostly young adult though not on purpose. The official challenge minimum is 12 books by debut authors during 2016. Personally, due in part to my reading goal for next year, I have decided to up the number to 16; I’ll read 16 debuts in 2016 which I thought was clever.
