172. Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zaforn
1232This is beautifully written, but until I got used to the flow, I wasn’t enjoying it as much. This is a very high four star for me.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 1-2, 2016

173. The Hostile Hospital by Lemony Snicket
254596I’m a little less optimistic about the remainder of the series after this book; I feel like we get one step forward, two steps back and the same formula for the story returned, but I’ll see this through until the end.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 2, 2016

174. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
22299763I’m a literal and physical ball of emotions about this book and this duology right now.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: September 29-October 2, 2016

175. Winter by Marissa Meyer
13206900I realized my love for this series lies with the characters more than the plot, but that’s fine because I still read this book in two days.
Rating: 4/5 stars.
Read: October 2-3, 2016

176. The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket
324277I liked the cliff hanger ending of this one…otherwise, I wasn’t feeling it as much as the previous two, but I’m really looking forward to the next book.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 4-5, 2016

177. The Slippery Slope by Lemony Snicket
297792I like learning new things, but more mysteries.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 5, 2016

178. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
8442457Look what I finally read! I think this is my second favorite of her works, but it’s a close race between this and Dark Places.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 5-6, 2016

179. Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
23009402 This was my first Sarah Dessen book and I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 6, 2016

180. The Fixer by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
22929578This the second series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes that I have started and as I am in love with her The Naturals series, I was worried I wasn’t going to like this book. I can definitely say that after reading this, that Jennifer Lynn Barnes can now be accounted as one of my favorite authors because I just love the characters she creates and how her background in psychology plays into her stories.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 6-7, 2016

181. Right of First Refusal by Dahlia Adler
28490607When I finished the first book in this series, I immediately sought out the remaining two and, while my least favorite bits had to deal with her family drama, I definitely enjoyed this as much as i had the previous one.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 7, 2016

182. Out on Good Behavior by Dahlia Adler
29739667After finishing the previous book, I wanted to see how it all ended with the final roommate and immediately picked this book up. I really enjoyed all of Samara’s book references and the epilogue to the series.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 7, 2016

183. Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins
8475505I wish got more with the setting, as it didn’t feel as southern as I was hoping, and less love triangle, especially at the very end when it seemed like it could still go either way. Otherwise, it was quite fun, but I’m not sure if I’ll end up reading books two and three.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 7, 2016

184. Eldest by Christopher Paolini
45978I feel like the slow pace these books have is really brutal when the books themselves are over 500 pages long. But something about dragons keeps me reading.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 6-11, 2016

185. Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
13538816It did take awhile to get into this because of how descriptive it is, but the sassy griffon definitely made this book so much better.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October

186. The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel
23265889I got more than I was expecting out of this and it kinda blew me away, but I can’t commit to five stars for some reason I can’t quite place yet.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 11-13, 2016

187. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
16034235I can see why this series is so beloved. I’m interested in where it is headed, but not in a big hurry to get to book two and that realization is why I am giving it only four stars.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 13-15, 2016

188. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
18692431I had a feeling very early on what was going to happen in this book, but because of how much I loved Madeline and Olly, I’m overlooking it…mostly
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 15, 2016

189. In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
23346377The pacing felt off; it wasn’t consistently fast or slow paced, but I was interested in what was happening so I kept going despite what was going on being kind of predictable.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 16, 2016
190. The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson
21936809I really am not sure what to make of the ending of this, but the end of the first part really got me and I couldn’t stop thinking about this book.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: October 17-18, 2016
191. Twisted River by Siobhan MacDonald
25810336 In comparison to the last mystery-thriller I read, and I know I shouldn’t compare, this was average at best.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 18, 2016
192. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
3236307I enjoyed this for the most part, but certain things Katsa said just didn’t mesh with me. I did love Raffin though.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 19-20, 2016
193.  Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova
27969081I’m glad to see bisexual love triangle for once, but in terms of paranormal this seemed less unique; however, I did find it enjoyable.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 19-October 20, 2016
194.The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
1076924I can’t put what is holding me back from giving this a five stars, but it feels better to give it four. It maybe that when I wasn’t reading it, I didn’t care about it, but I don’t know. Although, I will admit that the Puritans in this seem very realistic to the ones that actually existed.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 18-21, 2016
195. I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells
7617119Try as I might, apparently I’m not as into the “I’m trying not to be a killer” books as I used to be.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: October 21-22, 2016
196. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
439288 This was a reread. When I first read this in 2013, it meant a lot to me and rereading this didn’t change that.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: October 22, 2016
197. Alanna: the First Adventure by Tamora Pierce
1135851A quick and magical read and Alanna is an excellent protagonist.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 22, 2016
198. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
89717After having read the Lottery by Shirley Jackson, maybe my own expectations were too high especially since how beloved this is, but I found it to be an okay experience.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 23, 2016
199. The Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson
386964An average murder mystery but, the forensic bits were good.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 23, 2016
200. The Shining by Stephen King
11588 As someone not easily frightened by the subject matter in this book, I feel like this loses it’s charm in it’s length. It’s not bad, but I’m starting to think longer Stephen King books aren’t for me, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to stop trying.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 23-25, 2016
201. A Good Marriage by Stephen King
23266550I like King’s more realistic and shorter stories.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 25, 2016
202. Dracula by Bram Stoker
17245A book worthy of it’s high cultural impact even if it does have many narrators and can be boring at times.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 25, 2016
203. Genius: the Game by Leopoldo Gout
25689033I was there for the premise and the diverse characters, but it fell flat; I wanted to love it, but it missed the mark.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 25-26, 2016
204. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
2767052Reread. I first read this around the time the third was to come out because I remember binge reading this series. I decided it was about time to reread this to see if it held up over time and I definitely enjoyed it more than the first time when I enhale read it because I could appreciate it more.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: October 26, 2016
205. The Last Star by Rick Yancey
16131489The ending was really surprising, but overall it was enjoyable.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 27, 2016
206. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
1217100 Reread. Still as powerful as the first time, but the last quarter or so frustrates me.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 27-28, 2016
207. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
5129huh? this was one of those Goodreads kept recommending me it so I might as well try it books. when I first started it I thought that I had skipped ahead because nothing made sense. that’s how I felt about this book. Nothing really made sense and it kept info dumping which made it make less sense.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 29, 2016
208. The Giver by Lois Lowry
3636 Conflicting conclusion much. On one hand I’d have enjoyed the ending more if this was a standalone but, on the other hand I don’t know if the conclusion has repercussions or is more set in stone because there are other books. Otherwise, I really was fascinated by this utopian/dystopian.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 30, 2016
209. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
18774964For most of this book it was gearing up to be a nice easy 3-star read. Ove was likeable and dislikeable at the same time but by the end I knew that it was worth more than just the three by how the ending made me feel.Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: October 30, 2016
210. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter
11300302I really have a thing for Alice in Wonderland retellings and I was hoping that I’d enjoy it more despite not being a big zombie person. I feel like the spark it needed was missing, but I still may read the second book eventually.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: October 30-31, 2016
