Books 259 through 272 were read during Cramathon
Eight of the books I read I own. One book I read was a reread.

239. Triptchy by Karin Slaughter
1601773 holy crap. flawed cop protagonists and a multiconnected story.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: December 1, 2016

240. The Grim Grotto by Lemony Snicket
65111Seemed to be a bit filler-ish, but the ending makes up for it.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 1, 2016

241. Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi
105992 Freaky and fascinating. I felt the need for something sickly sweet after finishing this one.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 1, 2016

242. Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto
21843165I read this as a part of my debut books challenge and wrote a spoiler-free review on it, but overall, this book tried to do too many things, making it confusing and unenjoyable.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 2, 2016

243. Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
6324090As whimsical as ever, but at times it seemed to jump around randomly. Side note, Scarlett Johansson did an excellent job narrating the audiobook for this.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 2, 2016

244. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
28356624I have written a spoiler-free review on this, but overall I still think I should give up on loving a Rainbow Rowell book.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 2-3, 2016

245. The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester
25224799Reread. My library had the audiobook version of this and I figured, since I neglected to properly state any kind of feelings when I read this the last time, why not reread it. Let me say, having the audiobook along side the actual book was a treat since they tried to explain what the pictures looked like. My overall feelings are still the same, I enjoy their content so this book felt like a warm hug, just amplified by being an audiobook.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: December 3-4, 2016

246. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
12954620A good start-up fantasy if you are new to fantasy, but a little lackluster if you’re not. I’ll probably continue on in this series at later point.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 4-5, 2016

247. Spare and Found Parts by Sarah Maria Griffin
23566912It took awhile to get going, but pretty average overall. I did like Nell as she was very believable
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 6, 2016

248. Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
24337Super cute and fun tale.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 8, 2016

249. Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Colthurst
25164304I have written a review containing spoilers on this one but, overall, the romance was completely there, even if the world-building and overall fantasy elements were lacking.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 7-8, 2016

250. Beast by Brie Spangler
25167846A not a clear cut Beauty and the Beast retelling but an important story and for the most part a sweet love story.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 9-10, 2016

251. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
22557272fast paced, but slightly predictable. good starter thriller.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 9-10, 2016

252. Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
25465056This book is brutal and I can’t stop thinking about it. It made me really want to keep reading more works by this author.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: December 11-13, 2016

253. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
24583 Not as good as I remembered, but it still has it’s charm.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 13, 2016

254. The Princess Saves Herself in this One by Amanda Lovelace
30076808Sometimes the formatting didn’t work for me, but overall this collection made me feel and left me very emotional.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 14, 2016

255. Olmec Obituary by L.J.M. Owen26127259In this cozy mystery, while the characters are sometimes lacking, the depth of knowledge the author has on archaeology makes for a fun ride.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 14, 2016

256. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
2998just as enjoyable as I remember from my childhood, but wow did it cover tough subjects. magical
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 14, 2016

257. James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
6689Okay so what actually happens with the nasty aunts is way different than how it was in the movie and I like how it is for them here a little more. A fun adventure with James and I loved the references to his other works.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 14, 2016

258. Fractured by Karin Slaughter
2199587Not as mind blowing as the first book, but I am loving Will Trent
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 15, 2016

259. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
109089I am really enjoying Dahl’s ability to not shy away from dark backgrounds plaguing his protagonist lives and giving them magical tales. Throwing in an eccentric candy man to the mix makes for great fun.
Rating: 5/5 stars

260. Night by Elie Wiesel
1617As always, memoirs are hard to rate. My rating doesn’t reflect how depressingly real this book was; the writing wasn’t for me and finding out part of the story was fabricated put a hender on my “enjoyment.”
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 16, 2016

261. The Penultimate Peril by Lemony Snicket
65110I liked the return of characters of previous books and I think this is probably my second favorite “setting” the Baudelaire orphans have found themselves in. I do think this series could have been a few books shorter.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 16, 2016

262. The End by Lemony Snicket
65112I read twelve books prior to this one for that unsatisfying ending?
Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: December 16, 2016

263. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
6148028I forget how little of this actually takes place during the games. the ending is still impactful.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 16-17, 2016

264. Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson
13721341The main problem I ended up having with this book is that it is too long. Bluebeard retelling aspects are good, but on it’s own it’s very slow.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 17-18, 2016

265. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
7260188It’s been years since I read this book. When I first read it, both of the tragic deaths that occur in it caught me by surprise and, while knowing about them this time, they still had the same emotional impact as before. That’s impact reminded me of why I had loved this series so much when I first read it over five years ago. With this read through, Mockingjay surpassed The Hunger Games as my favorite book in this series.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: December 17-19, 2016

266. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
5327A true Christmas classic.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 18-20, 2016

267. The Row by J.R. Johansson
27414418This was really good, but the main character, Riley, is very naive.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 17-20, 2016

268. The Rose Society by Marie Lu
23846013Very fast paced and gets surprisingly darker as it goes on.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 19-20, 2016

269. The Iron Thorn by
6234910To be honest, I didn’t expect much from this given it’s lackluster cover, but it really shows how much the author loves Lovecraft’s works to create a world has twisted as he did. However, I was disappointed with where the story went.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 19-20, 2016

270. Damage Done by Amanda Panitch
19542831This book is a literal shit storm. it’s not nicely wrapped up and somehow that works. I do place a heavy trigger warning for animal abuse on this one on top of the school shooting story that occurs.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 20-21, 2016

271. Undone by Karin Slaughter
5764902Seeing perspective from the present victim was interesting. Though it did spoil the Grant County series so I’ll probably be picking up those before continuing on in this series.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 22, 2016

272. The Blazing Star by Imani Josey
32182684I was sold on time traveling back to Ancient Egypt. I loved the complex relationship that the twins had. The major fault of this is the ending being a little abrupt and that no one thought the main character was nutty was displacing.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 22-23, 2016

273. Blindsighted by Karin Slaughter
21718Gold star for me for figuring this one out on my own. Also, I don’t like Lena.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: December 22-24, 2016

274. Kisscut by Karin Slaughter
6646563This one was more difficult than all the other books by her that I’ve read. The ending is definitely shocking.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: December 23-26,  2016

275. A Faint Cold Fear by Karin Slaughter
23735073I wasn’t the biggest fan of the who-done-it in this one.  Lena literally is driving me nuts.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: December 27, 2016

276. The Storykiller by Humfrey Hunter
31076326Interesting premise; however nothing new mystery-wise.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: December 27-28, 2016

277. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
28374007I feel like this book was advertised wrong as this book is leading up to the competition of the queens when the premise makes you think it’s the fight for the crown. This was a slow moving train otherwise, but worth it even if I figured the ending. I definitely have a favorite queen.
