As a lover of debuts it was hard to narrow this list down, but these are the top 5 2017 debuts that I’m most excited for. I do have a shelf on Goodreads that shows all 2017 that I’m currently looking forward to.
This list is in order from my least to most excited for.
5. Cold Summer by Gwen Cole
A boy who travels between present day and WW2 and must learn to control his time-travel powers or risk becoming a causality of the war. I’m not a big WW2 reader or time-travel buff, but something about this book keeps drawing me to it. This book is expected to come out: May 2nd 2017
4. Sad Perfect by Stephanie Elliot
“The story of a teen girl’s struggle with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and how love helps her on the road to recovery.” Learning that the author’s daughter was an outpatient for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder when she wrote this makes me hopeful that it’ll be an excellent portrayal of a difficult eating disorder. This book is expected to come out: February 28th 2017
3. Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson
Allegedly, Mary, at nine-years old, killed the white baby her and her mother were caring for through the church. She didn’t set the record straight before, but when the state threatens to take away her unborn child Mary must fight her past. I’m really excited for the mystery in this one as I feel Mary won’t give anything up to easily. This book is expected to come out: January 24th 2017
2. You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner
This book features Julia, an artist whom is deaf, who gets expelled from her school and finds herself to be the only deaf student in her new school. The author is also going to be providing illustrations for Julia’s art so I’m really excited for that. This book is expected to come out: March 7th 2017
1. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
Two Indian-American teenagers whose family’s are trying to arrange them to be married wind up attending a summer program for aspiring web developers. I’m expecting this to be really cute, just like the cover. This book is expected to come out: May 30th 2017
