Read: April 4-5, 2017

149. Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys
16153296Ruta Sepetys is a rather popular historical fiction author and, after finally reading the book I’ve heard the least buzz about, I can safely say that I completely understand why she’s popular.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 5-6, 2017

150. The Edge of the Abyss by Emily Skrutskie
26219455This book left me wanting a further installment, but mostly because I wanted it not because it needed it. There’s character and relationship development and overall a solid conclusion.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 7-8, 2017

151. It’s Always the Husband by Michele Campbell
31451082 Do you ever start reading a book and wondering what about it made you want to read in the first place? While, the premise of this book was promising, the title doesn’t fit and the characters weren’t developed. I wanted more from this and was left disappointed.
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: April 7-8, 2017

152. Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli
846984 I think the reason I had originally listed this is as a five star because I wasn’t expecting it to exist. I still enjoyed it this time around.

154. Seed by Lisa Heathfield
23013819While I love the concept of this, but the beginning and the end didn’t feel like an actual beginning and end.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 11, 2017

155. Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce
24885730I decided to pick this up mainly due to the badger on the cover and that I knew of Tamora Pierce, having previously picked up another book by her. I can say that this was a pleasant surprise.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 11, 2017

156. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
19486412This was one of those books that I bought on bargain thinking “maybe, I’ll get to it one day.” That is until the mini-series buzz started happening so I decided it was time to check it out. All I’m going to say is that even though it seems unnecessarily long at first glance that it felt like the length was necessary. I was pleasantly surprised by this book.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 11-12, 2017

157. The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien
727810
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: April 11-13, 2017

158. Lab Girl by Hope Jahren
25733983Picked this up as a part of my Popsugar reading challenge since I’m not a big science person so might as well pick a science nonfiction book for one of the challenges. Not much to say otherwise, but an enjoyable read.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 13-14, 2017

159. The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
30653853I loved Becky’s first book so I had high hopes for this book. let’s just say Becky smashed those and produced a book I’m absolutely in love with.
Rating: 5/5 stars
Read: April 14-15, 2017

160. If I Did It by OJ Simpson
1797248 I’m totally in the OJ did it camp and this book lead me to looking up conspiracy theories in it’s regard. On another note, I’m glad it got to be published through the means it finally did get published.
Rating: 4/5 stars

162. The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma
18044277 Going into this, I had no idea it was a ghost book and I’m not a ghost book person anymore. However, it was rather enjoyable and the author has a way with words.
Rating: 3/5 stars

163. Brownies and Broomsticks by Bailey Cates
12035966Not the best cozy mystery that I’ve read, but baking and witches is fun.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 17, 2017

164.  The Midnight Witch by Paula Brackston
17910080In comparison to the other work by her that I’ve read, this doesn’t live up. Keep in mind it’s more historical than witch if you go to read it.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 13-17, 2017

165. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
20613470 Probably my favorite so far. I’m finding this series compulsively readable and enjoyable, but nothing genre-shattering.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 16-18, 2017

166. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
2956 If you were to ask me which story I enjoyed more, Tom Sawyer or a Huckleberry Finn, I’d say Tom Sawyer every time. So, you might be asking, why reread it besides just to have it listed on Goodreads? Elijah Wood. Elijah Wood was the audiobook narrator for this and he has one of those voices that actually improved this story.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 17-18, 2017

167. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
18006496 My only qualm is that the length seems…unnecessary? Like I’m enjoying these, but they feel way too long.
Rating: 3/5 stars

Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: April 20-21, 2017

170. Caraval by Stephanie Garber
27883214 This isn’t exactly what I thought it was going to be…
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 20-22, 2017

171. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
1934 Another that I find myself agreeing with 13yo me on. I think my biggest qualms is this is kind of a romance novel yet I couldn’t get behind any of the pairings.
Rating: 2/5 stars
Read: April 22-24, 2017

172. The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson
259028 I enjoyed how this read like an actual story but the two plotlines have a fine thread connecting them and I found myself more interested in one side.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 23-24, 2017

173. The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis
25812109This was a book that for a long time, I was iffy on if I was going to actually end up reading it. Not because I thought I wasn’t going to like it, but I know what my triggers are so I was cautious. So when I finally got around to trying it recently, I was hesitant, but ready to drop it if necessary. Honestly, I’m glad that I stuck through this because this is a very important read.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 21-25, 2017

174. Dead Wake by Erik Larson
22551730While I was less interested in this subject matter than that of The Devil in the White City, I’ve found that I enjoy Erik Larson’s narrative style of telling of nonfiction events.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 24-26, 2017

175. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
5287473So, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this book. I’m not sure if it’s how long ago the book came out or the cover, but I found myself pleasantly surprised by it in the end. It was the perfect fix for the slight paranormal craving I was having.
Rating: 4/5 stars

176. Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
46756Not for me. I found it confusing and honestly I don’t remember much of what happened in it anymore despite having finished it not that long ago.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 27, 2017

177. Prince Caspian by CS Lewis
587316 I think this maybe one of my favorite of the Narnia books so far, but I’m not sure if it’s because I really didn’t like the last Narnia book I had read.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 29, 2017

178. Dating Sarah Cooper by Siera Maley
23259050This was gearing up to be a 3 star read, but with that ending…well it brought the rating up.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Read: April 29, 2017

179. Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte
298230My second Bronte sister work and I liked it more than Wuthering Heights, but I hated Wuthering Heights so that doesn’t’ say much. I heard another work by Anne is better so I’ll probably be picking that up in the future.
Rating: 3/5 stars
Read: April 29, 2017

180. The Bane Chronicles edited by Cassandra Clare
16303287I did not rate each individual story since I read this during Dewey’s. It has been almost a year since I finished the Mortal Instruments series and I planned on picking this one up next soon. After reading it, I get why I put it off for so long because I’m not really a Magnus Bane person and some of these stories were just average at best.
